About the Anthology:
A few words from the Editor
In 1985, while the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche was still living, I began to think about compiling an anthology of poetry written by his students as a tribute to him, because I was inspired not only by Rinpoche's poetry, but also by the dohas and songs of other lineage holders written to their gurus. At Rinpoche's cremation ceremony in 1987, I spoke with poet Allen Ginsberg, who was the first of several people to encourage me in this endeavor. After I published a request for poetry in the newpaper The Vajradhatu Sun, I received over 200 poems and other media from Rinpoche's students, all paying tribute to Rinpoche.
In the late 1980's I was assisted other poets to help review and select the best from this first group of works.
More recently I have been collecting release forms from many poets and other contributors, which is a necessity before publishing.
